My New Makeover – Local Reality Show whose premise was to award two area contestants, (who could not afford the combination of treatments and surgical procedures), performed free of charge, while the cameras recorded every moment. Each of the six doctors (Dr. Raghu Elluru - Great Lakes Plastic and Hand Surgery, Dr. Gyl Kasewurm - Professional Hearing Services, Dr. Mark A. Kuriata - Advanced Dermatology, Dr. Stan Pletcher -Great Lakes Eye Care, Dr. Neil Smith - Bridgman Family Dental Care, Dr. Andy Wang - Great Lakes Eye Care) involved in the transformation process not only donated their time, skills and resources, but were there throughout the process to help the contestants whenever they had questions or concerns. Different from other makeover series, the focus of this show went beyond just the cosmetic procedures. This holistic approach was not only about looking good, but providing the gift of better sight, hearing and a new smile; bringing a higher quality of life. Introduction was made by Dr. Bill Dorfman of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover.”
Aired Jan. 19, 2007, WSBT South Bend; Jan. 22, 2007 WWMT Kalamazoo.
Poem written by a patient for Dr. Kuriata
HOW DO YOU LOOK
If you think you would like a prettier face,
Then just visit the Dermatology Place.
If you don’t like that ugly spot on your nose,
Just take it down to the doctor who knows.
If you feel your looks require an apology,
The best place to go – Advanced Dermatology.
If you’re looking for medical skill at its best,
This is the place you can put to the test.
If you’re thinking to make a medical call,
Advanced Dermatology takes care of it all.
