Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels are an easy way to treat signs of aging and improve skin coloration and texture without an invasive procedure. A variety of peels are offered to treat fine lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, roughness and acne prone skin. The amount of treatments needed to achieve optimal results and the length of downtime required, depends on the strength and type of peel chosen.

Glycolic acid peels treat fine lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin, uneven skin tone and help to bring acne under control. Chemical process time is 3-5 minutes. There is minimal to no downtime, however your face may be pink following the procedure. Best results are achieved with a series of six peels over a 6-12 week period. Individual peels or a series of six pre-paid peels may be purchased. Glycolic acid peels are the lowest level peel offered at Advanced Dermatology.

Beta-lift peels lift the upper layer of the skin by dissolving the "glue," (desmosomes) which bind it to the underlying epidermis. This process then triggers a burst of cell division, accelerating skin cell production and shedding. This peel is used to treat sun damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, superficial lines, rough skin, and acne prone skin. This peel is stronger than the Glycolic peel and requires more downtime for healing.

TCA (trichloroacetic acid) and Jessner peels offer more effective results but require the most downtime of all peel treatments at Advanced Dermatology. These peels are ideal for reducing hyperpigmentation from sun exposure and for diminishing fine wrinkling. They are also effective in treating pigmentary changes, including melasma, and postinflammatory pigment changes. While this peel is the strongest at Advanced Dermatology, it is still considered a medium level peel.
